Coming to the battery issue, on the laptops the manufacturesrs will provide you a tool which checks the battery health. Run this tool to get the results. If it says defective and replace then you have toconect Acer support.
I have an ill health ridden  l aptop which is a year old - it is gateway and it stops charging after is has got about 40% but it charges for a short while fortunately. I have had this problem even before it was one yearl old but was too relaxed to get it back to the manufacturers. I used my husband's laptop's charger instead which works on mine.

anyway I would like to know what tool are you talking about so that I could run it for results?

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

If I have figured out my laptop specifications correctly then, no, none of it applies to mine - thanks anyway!

now it charges only 22% and stops

I think my laptop is dying. Will buying a new charger help? Or a new battery?

I would guess that the battery is dying - but you'd have to have it professionally tested to be sure.
Here's a link that discusses some of the different aspects of testing a battery: http://64.233.169.132/search?q=cache:6lbg4...lient=firefox-a
