Hey gang

I have this spare computer which I'm finally upgrading... before today I was just using the motherboard video and audio... it wasn't pretty. Anyway, i ordered up a new video card, sound card, DVD drive, and 80mm fan, all from newegg. The sound card, dvd drive and fan work great, but the video card causes trouble.

When I hit the power button, fans spin and everything appears to start up, but then after 3-5 seconds, the system just shuts off instantly. I never even see text on the screen. I removed the sound card and dvd drive, and it still happens with just the video card. My first thought was that maybe it's underpowered with the new video card, but the sticker on the power supply makes it look like a 500W PSU.

Any thoughts? This is supposed to be our media pc in our living room, and I'm anxious to set it up!

Have you turned off the integrated video on the motherboard? Does the fan on the video card spin?

500W may not be reported accurately How many 12V+ rails does it have and what is the amperage rating of these rails.
