Hi samoyed.

There are some other firewall that may interest you.

Install a third-party firewall from the following selection of excellent programsThe main reason you would prefer a third-party firewall over the Windows XP Firewall is because Windows Firewall only stops incoming signals from accessing your computer. However, it will not stop Outgoing signals (possibly ones that could intrude your privacy) from sending information to the Internet or to other networks.

After you have installed one of the above firewalls, please disable your Windows Firewall, if you had it enabled.

*Note: If you choose the PC Tools Firewall Plus and you are asked to install ThreatFire you do not have to install it.
Also Agnitum firewall will require a registration meaning they need your e-mail and name so they can send you the link to download it free.

The decision on which Firewall you choose at the end is always yours as Quietman said, it is a personal preference.

Nigglesnush85 and JamesFrance also mentioned about Comodo. Comodo is a good firewall but it is not a stand alone firewall anymore. If you only want the Firewall, you will need to only install the firewall from that package.

Hope all goes well.

With Regards,
Extremeboy

Hello.

In addition to what nigglesnush85 have said, Quietman7 has a quote that:

No single product is 100% foolproof ...

extremeboy

can you post the link where you got the above quote from Quietman7

tork

Hi All,

I have installed the Zonealarm Firewall. Windows Firewall has been disabled.

Question:
When I was using Windows Firewall, I had the choice of enabling and disabling functions like Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance. Now that Windows Firewall has been disabled and I am now using Zonealarm Firewall, how do I enable Remote Desktop and Remote Assistance when I need it?

Thank You.

Not too many comparative tests published, unfortunately the free Zone Alarm is not included here, but it has no HIPS component I believe, so unlikely to do as well as the paid version.
