my Acer 5315 connects thru my router when I hardwire it but not when I go wireless. It says the WLAN is unconnected. I am aware of 1 button to turn on to enable the wireless function but are there any others, like F keys? If not, how do I know if the problem is computer or router? Router is Cisco linksys

Hi, has the wireless connection ever worked? Is it a new connection? Did you setup the wireless connection in the router?

i'm having the same problem. i've got a realitively new (less than 6 months old) gateway laptop with windows vista, internal wireless network card. i've had it connected via a linksys router and cable broadband. i've not had very many issues at all, until tonight. i was online, playing warcraft, getting some minor lag issues but nothing out of the ordinary. then, got disconnected from the game server. i noticed i wasn't connected to the internet, so i rebooted... still not connected. shut down the desktop and the laptop, reset modem and router, still not connected. desktop isn't wireless, and it's not having issues. when i have MS troubleshoot the issue it tells me either the LAN cable isn't connected or the card isn't on. well, the card has been on from day one, and i don't know of any other place to turn if on/off besides the switch on the side. i did check to make sure it wasn't accidently switched off, but it wasn't. i am at my wits end with this. i'm not an expert, but no dummy either. i tried a system restore, and that didn't fix the issue either. someone help please! thanks! :D
edit: omg... i found it. this is the first laptop i've ever had so i'm a bit of a noob lol. i googled "turn on wireless capability" and found others with the same issue. turns out you can turn your wireless on and off with the fn + the f2 keys. how inconvenient... anyway to disable that? LOL
