Okay, about a month ago my computer was working fine and everything was running smooth, then i got a virus and I let the guys at debugit fix it. Though now i have a wierd problem. My local area connection and all other network places are gone. They dont show up anywhere in my control panel. Then when I go to my device manager it is also empty. But for some wierd reason I have great internet connection and everything. How do I get my local area connection back and wat do i do about my network. please help!

My first thought is that there is a policy on the machine that's hiding your Local Area Connection from you. This is usually done through the MMC with local users and groups or Local Machine Polices. The setting itself is likely to be in the Registry.

As far as your network places, they could have been deleted, or you may have Folder Sharing turned off. There are also some services that, if turned off, could prevent you from viewing My Network Places.

Tell us what you would like to try first as either of these is worth looking into.

BTW, What operating system are you using?

Please do the following;

Start>run and type cmd then hit Enter

Type the Following at the command prompt.

Net User YourUserName

check to the bottom of the output and confirm that you're in the Administrators group

Also open my computer Click Tools> Folder Options> Show Hidden files and folders. See if you can view
the Local Area Connection.

Also, you could run the MMC

Start>run

Type: mmc
hit enter
File>Add/Remove Snap-In and choose Local Computer policy
Click ok
and then expand user configuration>expand network and open Network Connections
Look over the Settings in here.

I corrected the Prior Post. Type CMD in the Run dialogue box which will bring up the command line where you can do the net user thing

Unfortunately, We can't provide options to circumvent security. In the means of Free Speech, there are tools available on the web, but you run the risk associated with using these tools in any manner other than on your own computer.

In other words, At your own risk.

Good Luck.
