BleepingComputer.com: Many problems... Won't start up... Fan strange, and sometimes bios may freeze

Okay, since there Is a lot of information, I'll be happy to post back specs/ other info. ... The main thing I need is startup fixed.
In order
1. Whilst my computer is on, I turn off my tv (being used as a 2nd monitor) and turn it back on, it says unstable input. Note that it works with other pcs such as my laptop on DVi and my ps3

2. I install new Nvidia drivers after startup. Now my computer is not starting up when I push the power( it goes through everything and hangs after vista loads)

• One of the fans revs several times on startup before loading all the time. It stops when it goes to the main loading screen. Then it had to be reset to boot it properly (which won't work sometimes)

Now I understand that this may not be a vista issue but maybe another but I couldn't find a section for this.


I'm completely stumped. I can't get hold of any more experienced for now... I will be so happy if you solve it!!!

#1 try
boot to bios
reload default settings
save and exit

if that doesn't work

#2 try
boot into safe mode.

# Turn the computer on or Restart the computer
# Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
# Ensure that the Safe mode (with networking) option is selected (second option)
# Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode(with networking).

If windows hangs while loading drivers, please write down the driver name and post it here.

If windows loads into safe mode...
open event viewer and check for warnings and errors that occur around the time the problems happen.


Post the most relevant errors here along with make and model video card, motherboard, ... how to get this info

In the bios is freezing... Regularly. Or is it just my keyboard freezing? I'll find another keyboard.

are you using a usb keyboard, or ps2?

how old is the motherboard?

It's not the keyboard

Also the motherboards only a month old

It hangs at BtHidBus.sys on startup for 45 secs

I've had many kernal-general errors but my pc froze before I could see any more...

I would also suggest a http://www.memtest86.com/, as well as replacing the cmos battery.

also check your event viewer for warnings and errors that start around the time this began.

and finally (should be tried first actually) try unplugging everything except the video card, RAM and CPU, then try moving the video card. restart. if all is better, insert all other pieces one by one until the problem comes back..

so should i remove the driver or what?

I would uninstall the bluetooth, yes. just to troubleshoot.

Uh removed both my 1TB HDDs - that seemed to be the problem. But they have my OS on it. Also does it matter which Sata ports they connect to?

could I i boot from another HDD which had an OS on it? Whoops it booted into now. :| and froze... (Thought it would) okay so xp is a no go.
If its my OS's HDD what can I do?

Run the memtest http://www.memtest86.com/

Check the Cmos Battery

boot to bios, and go to the section that monitors your temps.

watch the temps for a while (10-15 min) to make sure it dont get too hot (unless it freezes still)

crack the case open and make sure the heatsink for the processor is seated properly, and (this one requires you have thermal compound) that the grease is not old and hard, how to apply arctic silver just remember, keep lint and the like out of the question, and keep the grease thin.

Did you remove the old video drivers before installing more current ones?

PSU seems like a suspect, IMO.

Problem. Not even booting

I think that I've determined it has something to do with my graphics card... I'll look on nvidias site about this

Booting up but after blank screen it finally reads
Windows failed to start etc.insert disk (usual stuff for errors)
Then it says
File: \Boot\BCD

Status 0xc000000f

Info: an error occured while attempting to read the boot config...

Edit: I forgot to tell you; nvidia drivers were version 0.0 when I tried to update (I'd updated it before)
