BleepingComputer.com: Can't Install Intel Driver

Let me preface by saying that Pogo and Microsoft are idiots and offer no suggestions. So here’s my problem: Only recently, I’ve had problems playing on Pogo such as games not loading or game freezes. When I enter a room, there’s a yellow triangle with an exclamation point on the upper right-hand side of the Java Applet Window. So under ‘Problems Reports and Solutions’ it stated that I needed to update my Intel Graphics Media Accelerator. When I attempted to download the update driver from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.as...e=&lang=eng it says "The Driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer."

I've uninstalled and re-installed Java already. I am running Vista and the problems occurs when running both I.E.7 and Firefox.

I have a Gateway MT6821 Notebook. I've even gone to Gateway's site and used their link for updates and still receive the same error message.

It appears that this model came equipped with both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows.
Interestingly, when browsing for the video drivers for the 64 bit version here ( http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers...p;os=&type= ), you'll note that the video drivers state that they are for 32 bit Windows.

So, do you have 32 bit or 64 bit Windows? To find out, go to Start...Control Panel...System and Maintenance...System
The last entry in the System category (System type) will tell you if it's 32 bit or 64 bit.

I have a 32 bit and when I download it now says "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Set up will exit." ARG!

OK, then we're gonna have to get aggressive here.

Go to Start and type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Expand the + sign next to Display Adapters. Right click on your Adapter and select Properties, then select the Details tab. Scroll down to get to the Hardware ID section.

In this section should be a long string of characters. We'll need the 4 characters immediately after the VEN_ and the 4 characters immediately after the DEV_ We'll look this up at http://www.pcidatabase.com to verify the type of display adapter.

Vendor ID is 8086 which is Intel Corporation and the Device ID is 27A2 which is Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family. Why won't the computer allow me to download the driver? Thanks for helping me out!

They are merely a starting place - not a definitive listing. But it helps when you can't locate a driver any other way.
Most times it works without a hitch - but occasionally it'll lead you down a false trail, so be careful!

Ok so when I go into Safe Mode I still receive the error messages. Still not sure what the next move should be.

Just to verify you are trying the correct drivers.

I've done this already and I have Mobile Intel 965.
