What is your current backup plan for your computer?
At the moment, I back up my stuff onto CDs or DVDs.

What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted?
My most devastating loss of data would be my college files, software and music. It's taken me quite a while to gather them all.

How would this prize package help you?
I recently got a macbook, so I'd be able to use the time machine function on it to back up all my stuff and make my life a great deal easier!

*fingers crossed*

My current plan for backup is- a second h/d for a ghost backup and a third for copies of all my files -"My Docs, my pics, downloads, favs etc." Makes it easy to do a clean install or I can use a "good" ghost image. These drives would give me the additional safety of removing the data away from my pc.The most devastating loss would be 8yrs of data and family pictures...sam stuart

What is your current backup plan for your computer?
Currently, I have two strategies of backing up my PC.

1. DVDs
2. An external USB case with my old 40GB harddisk

What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted?

The most devastating data loss that I have experienced is my manuscripts that my family submits to a big book company here in the Philippines. It is the core of our household income so every time the PC is slowing down, I always back it up and fix it immediately. I have 4 hard disks and last year one of them died and sadly that disk contained the most important files for the books (i.e. images, layout designs, graphic works, text). I went frantic because it took me a week to excavate all the files I need before disabling it. I am always at guard on everything that comes in and out of my PC. I do not want to repeat that event in my career as a writer/author.

How would this prize package help you?
Well, economically speaking, it will lessen my spending on buying CDs and DVDs and also inks for printing hard copies of every work my family has done for the publishing house. Plus, I can carry large quantities of data to and fro the publishing house. You know how big AI, PSD, PDF, INDD files are. Currently I am carrying my trusty 3 y/o 2gb USB drive that can carry my presentation materials and my manuscripts. Having the FreeAgent can really help me streamline work and economics in my family's writing business.

1. What is your current backup plan for your computer?
I usually take back ups of any important data on DVDs. If it is very important, I use external hard disks of my friends'.

2. What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted?
The most devastating loss of data that I experienced is the picture collection I have. I saved all my pictures, friends' pictures, my favourite collection etc..I lost all of them  And also I lost my test data to be run on one of my experiments in a conference...I had to download it all again and work on it...

3. How would this prize package help you?
Instead of buying the DVDs all the time, I use this prize to store everything from my photo albums, songs, movies, study related information etc...

With thanks and best wishes

I recently purchased my first external hard drive and used acronis to back up my system.

This prize package would allow me to implement a good RAID system to reduce chances of critical error and expand virtualization to also reduce potential problems.

What is your current backup plan for your computer?
Use Titan Backup to copy to current external drive that is quickly running out of space.

What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted?
Family pics, music and financial info.

How would this prize package help you?
It would provide the extra room to backup all of my important files and maintaining an image of my current configuration as well as having an offsite backup using the portable drive.

What is your current backup plan for your computer?
My husband burns most of the inportant files onto a CD. He's been wanting to purchase an external drive, but we haven't been able to afford it.

What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted?
My MOMS club files and pictures.

How would this prize package help you?
My husband has been wanting to purchse one or two external drives for awhile. This would make his Christmas and I could stop bugging him about backing up my digital pictures.

I didn't have a backup plan before, and I lost two years of writing work. My back up plan now us using Microsoft Office storage for all of my backup files.
If I lost all of the last two years work, I would be devastated, as that has not only my financial papers but also contact information and contracts.
This prize would help me to maintain storage on my computer, but will also allow me to be able to take the information with me when I go somewhere.

I have no real backup plan. I just save important files to memory sticks. My work stuff gets backed up there. I would really miss a lot of my pictures. Having a portable external disk would allow me to save my photos and files in one place instead of spread across a lot of different memory sticks (which one is it on?). Thanks!

What is your current backup plan for your computer?
I use USB flash drives for frequently updated files and DVDs for everything else.

What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted?
Any personally created data would be a devastating loss, since all of it took time and effort to create. If I had to be specific, it would be pictures of times past.

How would this prize package help you?
It would lighten the burden of constant DVD backups and allow me to use my shelves to store books instead of discs.

"What is your current backup plan for your computer? What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted? How would this prize package help you?"

current backup plan - weekly backup of the "My Documents" folders (on Iogear 320gb hard drive) and monthly backup of the entire pc on my 500GB seagate drive. I've learned the hard way to always have a recent backup. My last pc crash was on teh 23rd of Nov. and I lost a month's worth of work (my work data, pictures taken during that times, videos). Those 3 items were devastating to lose.

What is your current backup plan for your computer? I currently use zip disks

What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted? Pictures of my daughter.

How would this prize package help you? It would save me so much time, and I would also not have to worry about static as much. I would be able to take my daughters photo over to family and friends so that they can view the files.
