I have actually had a system crash before and it was horrible! I lost tons of family photos that I can never get back. I currently back up now via DVD every few months. Still not the best of systems, but it works for now. However, if you pick me for this give away it will be no worries and smooth sailing...well, as smooth as it ever can be. thumbup.gif

Thanks for a great giveaway!!!

I sometimes burn files to CDs, but I certainly don’t have anything that could be called a backup "plan" or "system." Unless crossing my fingers and hoping counts. I'd be lost if my friends & family disappeared from my Address Book. Winning this giveaway would allow me to back up all those e-mail addresses and phone numbers, as well as thousands of photos, mp3s, videos and documents.

What is your current backup plan for your computer?
I do not have a plan

What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted?
Pictures and email address would be a great loss as to would be the loss of license keys for my security programmes

How would this prize package help you?
I would clone my HD and back up on a regular basis.

clapping.gif Wow...Love this place so far. I'm new here.

Well, just want to enter the contest. I am disabled (totally) since 1992. We, being my wife, Denise, and I, just went to our 9th grandchild's birthday party...took pics and such. All my pictures of my children, grandchildren and everything else are on my one and only drive. I don't have a backup drive and really, really need one. This would be too cool to win. Buying one is not an alternative at this point unless social security should give me a 10% wage increase this year rather than the usual 1 or 2% they give in January.

Oh well, thanks for the chance to win...if and when I ever get enough money to buy one I will definitely look at these. Hey...maybe the winner will donate me his old backup HD...ya think? thumbup.gif

I would be upset if I lost my school work, my writing, pictures, music, etc. Fortunately, I've never had a problem (so far). I back up daily to an external hard drive, and could definitely use a bigger one (1TB would be awesome).

we don't really have a backup system, except for saving things on to disks, i guess that works just as well, it's just ends up being a lot of disks! If i ever lose all our vacation pics i'd be woe begotten! This would help by us actually being able to back up all of our pics and important documents!

What is my current backup plan?
I have a simpleshare NAS drive that I use to keep the whole families files backup on. From my work to my 10 year old daughter pictures. I've had to learn to be a novice admin to help keep my family organize and safe online.

What would be the most devastating loss of data?
Unless both my desktop and the NAS went down I would hopefully be ok. But, my daughter and wife would be heart broken if we loss the pictures weve download from their cameras over the years. My daughter and learned to edit pictures and put them in frames for her friends, that would be a blow.

How would this prize package help me?
I would give it to someone else and encourage others to back up their files. My sister is a student at the art institute of washington, she plans to make movies. I bought her a mini mac for xmas last year to help her. I would give her the mac drive to help with keeping her files. I sure create movies with uses a lot of hard drive and the mini mac doesn't come with much. So, that what I would do. Use it to increase others knowledge to keeping their files safe, because knowledge is power.

Thank you

My current backup plan is an external 300GB hard drive in which i have copied my pics, music, videos and other stuff.
winning this hard drive bundle would help because the 300GBs in the external drive are filling up and having the 1TB drive
would give me the extra space i need. thumbup.gif

I have already posted mine on the second page, but that was posted on my iPod touch, so it wasn't well organized. Here is my better organized one.

What is your current backup plan?
My current backup plan is non-existent at the moment.

What would be the most devastating data loss?
I think the most devastating loss would be my parents business records. They own their own business and have spreadsheets and documents that can't be lost. Most of them have hard copy twins, but some of them are only on the computer.

How would this prize package help you?
It would give my parents peace of mind that their important business documents are backed up and secure. (I would probably give it to them for Christmas) My brother is also going to college next year and having a way to transfer over his like 40 gigs of music (he has wayyy too much) to his laptop would be very helpful. So the drive would mostly be used to backup my parents business documents, transfer files to my brother's new laptop, and probably a way for me to backup my music and photoshopped pictures.

Current BackUp Plan:
Currently I use an online back-up service which is great because it's relatively accessible but it's costly and more importantly VERY Slow

Most Devastating Loss:
Copies of customized databases that I've developed for clients.

How would this help:
Currently I need to keep the copies of the databases on my pc because it's so slow to retrieve an entire database from our online service. If stored on a portable drive all of the databases could be stored offline in a readily accessible location allowing me to free up space on my machine as well as being a safer storage medium

My current back up system is so old fashioned! I copy files onto CD’s and so just burning CD’s is how I back things up. It makes for so much unnecessary clutter! This prize package would help me immensely because it would be a much more efficient and easier way to manage all my files. I basically am concerned about losing all of my large image files. I create digital art using fractals. I create the fractals using all of my original photographic files. I have to admit I have lost sleep in the past worrying that one day I am going to lose them all, the ones I have not backed up and it would really be a nightmare for me because I have put so much time and effort in creating some really cool art. Thank you so much for the opportunity to enter. Happy Holidays!

What is your current backup plan for your computer?

I am backing up to DVD, but on quite irregular basis.

What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted?

Loss of my pictures would be the most devastating.

How would this prize package help you?

It would help me to back up much easier and, hopefully, on the more regular basis.

What is your current backup plan for your computer?
I copied a bunch of files onto an external harddrive...once.

What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted?
Since I've used this computer for all of my schoolwork since about grade 9 (now I'm in 4th year uni), I would feel like I had lost a huge part of myself after losing so much of my hard work. (Not to mention my current work which I really can't lose!)

How would this prize package help you?
I would keep a hard drive devoted to backup!

clapping.gif First post, and on something awesome.
Okay, here I go:

What is your current backup plan for your computer?
Sadly, with a few tragedies under my belt, I only back up about once a month on a clunky external hard drive that three of us share...

What would be the most devastating loss of data (ie. pictures, email, music, etc) for you, if your hard drive failed or the data was deleted?
I have pics of the kinder on a movie set and singing in shows. If I lost those, what would I sell the tabloids once she's famous?

How would this prize package help you?
Maybe I'd be less stressed when that blue screen pops up. Maybe with such organization and preparation for disaster will lead me to finally clean out the pantry! Maybe I'm a dork!

I have to honestly say that I'm pretty dumb because I have no backup plan-and I really should.

there's 2 things that I would be devastated to lose and unfortunately it already happened to me once a couple of years ago when my computer got fried so you think I would have learned from the 1st time. I do digitizing for embroidery and all my files(couple thousand) are on my computer and have never been backed up and of course -1000's of pictures that have never been printed and just live on my computer.

this would certainly be great to win because I could have piece of mind in case of another computer disaster smile.gif
