I've got Sony Vaio VGC-RA826G that crashes without warning anywhere from every day to once every three days.
Details:
1) Machine is running 32 bit Vista Ultimate with a P4 3.4GHz and 3MB ram. I recently upgraded from the version of Windows XP MCE that shipped with the machine. The crashes predate the upgrade.
2) Unsure whether this is related or not but when I attempt to reboot, the machine stalls on the VAIO splash screen indefinitely. I hard stop the machine repeatedly using the power switch until I get a clean boot -- usually after 5 - 10 attempts.
3) I inherited the machine so can't say what hardware or software changes might have been made that created the problem.
4) I ran a minidump analysis which produced the following report. To my amateur eye it looks from the report like a driver issue, though I can't tell which one's the culprit. Thanks for any help you can provide!!

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: b33e4b1c, memory referenced
Arg2: 00000002, IRQL
Arg3: 00000000, bitfield :
bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: 8201179b, address which referenced memory
