Hi everyone
When I try to update AVG 8.0 automatically, about 70% of the time it fails to connect to the server and displays a message saying it failed to connect. I can still use the internet though so I don't think it's my connection. Thoughts?

Try to uninstall AVG and reinstalling again.
The free version of AVG can be found here. http://free.avg.com/download?prd=afe

I have had to do it several times before as a result of accidentally deleting my C:/Recyclers folder so that doesn't seem to be the problem. Will try again though.
