I have a HP Laptop ze1000 (see link below).

I insert a DVD and cannot get the DVD to play. I go to Windows Media and bring up the player but cannot get it to play the DVD. I went to "help" on the laptop - Nope. I looked at the instruction manual and it is of no help. (I can get the DVD to work on my PC e-machine T5048 because it is intuitive and leads you to all the applicable prompts - ie - I bring up the Widows Media Player and the DVD is labled "unknown" which is good enough for me).

I know it has to be something simple.......I hope.

God bless the person who named this forum "Bleeping".....that is what I think about home computers. I cannot wait for Cloud Computing - I WILL BE THE FIRST TO BUY IT...REGARDLESS OF PRICE.

Hello ms624,

Sometimes WMP can have difficulty opening DVDs. Try using https://videolan.org/vlc/
