Ok this is my first post in this forum so Hello
anyway down to business
I have one 250gb hard drive in my PC now
i put a second 60gb one in and when i start up it says there is no valid disk. If i unplug the new hard rive it works fine. How do I get it to go to the old hard drive first? Is there a setting in the BIOS that says which drive to boot from?

OK.
What types of drives are these...PATA or SATA? If you don't know, type in the model numbers from the drives.
System manufacturer and model? If custom-built, motherboard manufacturer and model?

OK, thanks
.
To answer your question in your first post...yes, there is a place in your BIOS where you must set the boot order.
Take a look in your BIOS to see what your boot order is.
If you connect a 2d drive to a connector which is the first boot option...and that second drive does not have Windows installed...you might get an error message as you received.
Do you have XP installed on each of these drives? If you don't, moving them around is not a good idea.
Are you sure that this 60GB drive is SATA?

<<do i need RAID drivers or something?>>
Not unless you intend to run one of the various RAID configurations available.
When you check the BIOS...do not elect any option to employ a RAID. Also do not elect any option to employ AHCI.

Glad you solved it, happy computing
