Not that IE and Vista haven't given me enough problems.....anyone STILL getting IE shutting down in the middle of something and ya lose it all? It's still happening to me, so I never do anything very important on my HP which is sad since it's about a $2500 machine.

The new caveat is this.......when I exit IE to go back to my desktop, it automatically gives me a small screen that says, "IE is not working...blah, blah, sorry for the inconvenience." Well, DUH, I exited. Then it immediately gives me another screen that says it's starting up again, so I have to cancel that, too. What is going on? This is ridiculous. I've run spyware, antivirus, malware, and every other "ware" thinking it could be something else. It's not. Any ideas will be welcomed. Thanks.

Check your Event Viewer for error messages in the Windows logs...Application logs for errors around that time. Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

Also, go to Start and type in "iexplore -extoff" (without the quotes) and press Enter. This will launch IE without any of the add-ons running. If it doesn't crash then, it's likely to be an issue with an addon. If so, load IE normally, and use the Tools...Manage Addons option to selectively disable the add-ons until you find the culprit.

I also did the iexplor -extoff, but it won't let me "manage addons"...it's grayed out. By the way, how do I get it back to normal after I've gotten IE on without addons?

Ok..I get you Ok...Firstly, which version of IE you have (7 or 8) if 7 then try running without addons and close it, if all Ok then disable all add-ons and enable each, until you see conflicting one...If you have * version of IE(Beta2) then just reinstall it
