I have replaced mediaplayer with BS player, microsoft office was replaced with openoffice.org, and internet explorer was replaced with firefox, more resource friendly applications, are there any more windows apps i can replace with more resource friendly apps?

alsoh in the bottom left on the tool bar at bottom of the screen there used to be an icon that would minimize all programs and let me view the desktop, i must have accidently deleted it or something and cant find a way to get it back, is there a way?

Get rid of Adobe Reader and use Foxit

Right-click the bottom of the screen and select Toolbars, then Quicklaunch

What Anti-virus program are you using? Some are worse resource hogs than others.

Also, if you're using CCleaner to clean your prefetch, then that could be causing a slowdown in your computer's performance. Leave the prefetch alone.
