Hey all,
Was just wondering if its possible to take a external hard drive and turn it into an internal. Or if it is a smart idea.

In many cases, the enclosure simply acts as to supply power and converts the interface to USB or Firewire. Sometimes, it is more involved than that. What external drive are you looking to convert?

It would also help to know what type of computer you wish to install it in.

Without knowing what motherboard you have and what other hdd you have installed internally I can't give you specific advice. The external hdd has a IDE bridge, so this means that once you remove it from the external enclosure you would be able to install it internally and connect it via a IDE data cable. If the existing internal hdd is connected to a IDE data cable you will have to change the jumper on the rear of the hdd to Master, and the other hdd will need to have the jumper set as Slave and connected to the middle connector on the cable.

It would help to know the make and model of the motherboard, and what kind of drives are already connected to it.
