Laptop Disk drive clicking

I just got a used toshiba satellite about a month ago and it's been working fine.
Just a few days ago it started making a clicking noise when we tried to put CDs in it. Now only some CDs work (mostly audio CDs.)
I reinstalled the drive and it kept clicking and not working. Do I have to get a new drive or is it a software problem?

It's not software
One usually associates a clicking noise with a failing hard drive. Are you sure it's the CD drive?

yeah because it only happens when i try to load a CD and right after it clicks the disk stops spinning. it attempts to load it 4 or 5 times.
