I hvae a Lenovo laptop with windows Vista installed on it. It has been working without any issues until about 5 mins ago. I went to update my iPhone and needed to install the new version of iTunes. I downloaded and installed it and promoted for a reboot. When the computer rebooted and I logged in I am getting osCheck has stopped working along with 0x800106ba Windows Defender error in Windows Vista. If I click close program on the osCheck error I also get aim6.exe corrupt file. I tried to run check disk and it does not appear to be working. When I go into the process I see a bunch of them are stopped if I try and start them I just get an error message. I search for osCheck on google and found this site along with this thread below. I checked the security on those files and they were fine. The computer is totally usless right now. Everything is missing under my all programs, and I can not connect to the internet or anything on that computer. Does it have something to do with the iTunes update or was that just coquincdental? The computer came with Norton.

First try booting into Safe Mode. To do this, repeatedly tap the F8 key just before the Windows splash screen comes up.
Once in, create another user account (through Control Panel) and give it administrative privileges.
Then shut down and reboot into normal mode, logging into the new account.

Do you have the same problems with the new account?

Okay I booted up in safemode and now I get logonui.exe corrupt file the file or directory C:\Program Data is corrupt and unreadable/ Please run the chkdsk utility. I have tried to run check disk but when it reboots it does not run. I tried doing cmd prompts and still nothing when it reboots. I tried sfc /scannow and it fails at 18%. So now I am trying sfc /verifyonly
