Could anyone help?

Funnily enough I actually posted a DXDIAG on a website a couple of days ago on this website to ensure I'm compatible with a 3D engine i was hoping to use. I had 128MB as shown below, which has now decreased to 64MB - after i upgraded my RAM from 512 to 2.5GB. Anyone know what i can do to get 128mb display device back???? Cheers

Display Devices
---------------
Card name: Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip type: Intel® GMA 950
DAC type: Internal
Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27A2&SUBSYS_FF011179&REV_03
**Display Memory: 128.0 MB**
Current Mode: 1280 x 800 (32 bit) (60Hz)

What 3D engine are you trying to use? Most laptops use integrated graphics and are not designed to run high-end 3D applications. At your resolution, a great deal of video memory may not be necessary. Some laptops with integrated graphics throttle the amount of memory used for graphics. Who's your laptop manufacturer and what model are you using?

long story, but here goes.

I’m currently hoping to play a game (football manager 2009 demo, a very crude 3D engine that is in no way detailed) that will require 128mb, yet my card has miraculously gone down (after I manually upgraded my RAM from 512 to 2.5GB) to 64mb!!! I also did a BIOS update maybe this reduced the display device…?

I know for a fact it has gone down because I posted my DXDIAG results on a forum to ensure my system would run this particular game. And have double checked it with my new DXDIAG results.

Or maybe this affected it?… when I inserted the new RAM into the computer I had to take out the 512mb RAM and replace it with the 2GB RAM. Therefore inserting the 512mb RAM into a port above the 2GB RAM.

Oh yeh and my computer is a Toshiba A110 Laptop Centrino Duo 1.6 with 2.5GB RAM

thanks mate

Just go into BIOS and reset video memory to 128meg.

I wonder why the BIOS would reset itself after a RAM upgrade. The BIOS update would certainly reset the video memory since settings are not retained between flashes.

When you turn on you PC, there is a key you can press while it is starting up to access the BIOS. On some systems it is one of the F keys, such as F1, F2, etc. On others, it could be the delete key. It depends on the manufacturer which key is used.

Did you install it yourself?
If you did you might have put some static through it which can damage your memory.

EDIT:
Nevermind. I think this can only happen to the hard drive.

It is possible to damage any computer component with static electricity.
