hey, am new to the site and i have no clue as to how i can create a simple shopping cart application for a website. i am open to any suggestions. thanx

It depends how simple you want it. You can download a PayPal version which will do the trick for free, but many people don't regard it highly due to some of the chargeback policies (The bit where you get paid - read and learn before deciding for yourself would be my advice). Other than that Worldpay offer a similar system if I'm not mistaken. Bottom line, if you want it to work your way, you'll probably have to use PHP/mySQL and do a custom build but others may know better. I've just used the basic one mentioned.

You can also host your own shopping cart with some open source systems. http://www.oscommerce.com/ and http://www.zen-cart.com/
