I just read this critique of Ubuntu 8.10 and thought others thinking of installing it might find some info in it that pertains to their present setup.

I will do some more reading on 8.10 before installing over 8.4 LTS but I am leaning toward waiting until the next release as I am happy with what I have and I don't see any New Features that I need.
One of the disappointments I have with my Ubuntu now is not being able to Hibernate and haven't found any solution. Not a big problem.

Yes 8.10 is a really great version! However, what I think I have discovered is that usually the second version of the same release like
7.10 and 8.10 are usually small improvements on the earlier releases like 7.04 and 8.04 (respectively). The next version 9.04 or whatever, will probably have more improvements over 8.04 than 8.10 did.
