http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html Symantec AV found this bloodhound.exploit.196 and referred me to a c:\windows\temp directory which appears to be loaded with trojan horse / exploit file server type stuff. I am unable to delete much of these folders/files as 'access is denied' Furthermore, bitdefender picked up a call from 88.134.137.241:4832 which i blocked. A tracert to this IP wound up in germany see below: Tracing route to 88-134-137-241-dynip.superkabel.de [88.134.137.241] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms DD-WRT [192.168.1.1] 2 11 ms 7 ms 7 ms 73.215.152.1 3 10 ms 7 ms 12 ms ge-3-36-ur02.tidwell.tx.houston.comcast.net [68.85.252.37] 4 23 ms 11 ms 13 ms po-12-ur01.tidwell.tx.houston.comcast.net [68.85.244.229] 5 15 ms 11 ms 10 ms po-13-ar01.greenspoint.tx.houston.comcast.net [68.85.244.157] 6 10 ms 10 ms 11 ms po-12-ar02.greenspoint.tx.houston.comcast.net [68.85.244.154] 7 15 ms 16 ms 32 ms te-0-4-0-1-cr01.dallas.tx.ibone.comcast.net [68.86.91.53] 8 15 ms 15 ms 16 ms xe-5-0-0.edge3.Dallas1.Level3.net [4.71.198.37] 9 27 ms 17 ms 17 ms vlan99.csw4.Dallas1.Level3.net [4.68.19.254] 10 21 ms 19 ms 17 ms ae-93-93.ebr3.Dallas1.Level3.net [4.69.136.165] 11 45 ms 38 ms 37 ms ae-7.ebr3.Atlanta2.Level3.net [4.69.134.22] 12 52 ms 52 ms 51 ms ae-2.ebr1.Washington1.Level3.net [4.69.132.86] 13 57 ms 54 ms 53 ms ae-71-71.csw2.Washington1.Level3.net [4.69.134.134] 14 51 ms 52 ms 54 ms ae-72-72.ebr2.Washington1.Level3.net [4.69.134.149] 15 137 ms 143 ms 144 ms ae-44.ebr2.Paris1.Level3.net [4.69.137.61] 16 148 ms 143 ms 144 ms ae-2.ebr1.Frankfurt1.Level3.net [4.69.132.142] 17 147 ms 148 ms 148 ms ae-4-4.car1.Munich1.Level3.net [4.69.134.1] 18 148 ms 148 ms 147 ms ae-11-11.car2.Munich1.Level3.net [4.69.133.254] 19 150 ms 147 ms 147 ms KABEL-DEUTS.car2.Munich1.Level3.net [212.162.47.150] 20 147 ms 149 ms 148 ms 83-169-128-190-isp.superkabel.de [83.169.128.190] 21 340 ms 208 ms 201 ms 88.134.251.5 22 230 ms 208 ms 207 ms 83-169-183-98-isp.superkabel.de [83.169.183.98] 23 158 ms 155 ms 155 ms 83-169-176-81-isp.superkabel.de [83.169.176.81] 24 161 ms 158 ms 159 ms 88-134-137-241-dynip.superkabel.de [88.134.137.241] Trace complete. Hi and welcome to Bleeping Computer! My name is Sam and I will be helping you.
I apologize for the delay getting to your log, the helpers here are very busy. The first thing that I notice is that you are running two antivirus programs at the same time. This can cause a number of problems, false positives being one of them. Please uninstall either Symantec or Bit Defender. Then post a new hijackthis log. -------------------- If I have helped you in any way, please consider a donation to help me continue the fight against malware.Failing to respond back to the person that is giving up their own time to help you not only is insensitive and disrespectful, but it guarantees that you will never receive help from me again. Please thank your helpers and there will always be help here when you need it! ======================================================== |

I still see signs of Bit Defender and Symantec both running.

Computer is way slow in all applications. I'm starting to wonder if its a hardware problem as i moved some memory around. however, this problem didn't start in accordance with that change.
i'll try to totally remove the BD... won't return until next week. thanks for your help. |

That's clearly a result of running two antivirus programs. Both are extremely heavy on the resources. so that it's running slowly is to be expected.
Let me know if you have trouble removing BD. We can get rid of it manually if necessary. Just post back when you have time. I'll be around. -------------------- If I have helped you in any way, please consider a donation to help me continue the fight against malware.Failing to respond back to the person that is giving up their own time to help you not only is insensitive and disrespectful, but it guarantees that you will never receive help from me again. OK. I removed a bunch of stuff and the response on the machine seems much better. Can you please have a look at this HJthis file for anything that's not totally necessary and of course malware?
I stopped some services that were running automatically as well (bonjour, nero indexer, and stuff like that ) Your help is appreciated. Thank you very much. That log looks very clean to me. I don't see any signs of malware there.
Common malware symptoms of the most current slew of infections include popups, redirected searches on the net, and trouble accessing certain sites. Are you having any problems like that? -------------------- If I have helped you in any way, please consider a donation to help me continue the fight against malware.Failing to respond back to the person that is giving up their own time to help you not only is insensitive and disrespectful, but it guarantees that you will never receive help from me again.
