My Outlook is locked up and I keep getting the above message each time I try to Send, Receive, use Contacts or Calendar. The Microsoft site recognized the problem and recommended downloading the latest Service Pack (Office XP SP3). I did this and nothing has changed. Same problems persist!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....?

Thanks, David

Hi .

Did you try uninstalling Office XP...and then reinstalling? Same question just for Outlook?

Did you try repairing Outlook?

Louis

Hi Louis

No to both your questions. I'm a 70 year old 'technopeasant' and the thought of either of the above steps scares the s--t out of me. Are they easy to do or should I take my computer to some place like Best Buy for attention?

Appreciate your response.

David

Do you have the Office CD(s) and the product key? If so, then we can walk you through the repair or reinstallation.

**If you need a more detailed explanation, please ask for it. I have the Knack. **

Take a look...be sure to follow the instructions that pertain only to your current installed operating system.

FWIW: I'm a 62-year-old user who has managed to grasp a few concepts .

Just follow the road for XP and let's see if it helps.

Louis

Open up Outlook and go to the Help menu.
There should be a choice for "Detect and repair"
Click on that and follow the prompts to let it repair your Outlook.

Let us know what happens!

It went through the process of configuring Office XP Pro and finished by saying the Office XP Pro Setup was completed successfully. Next step?

That should mean that the repair is complete.

Try your programs and see if they work properly now, please .

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. Cannot download messages from my ISP, add or change appointments in Calendar or do anything in Contacts. Everything is frozen up! Anyone have any other suggestions?

Right click on Deleted Items & choose Empty "Deleted Items" Folder.

If that does not solve it,, you may have to create a new .pst file.

Hillbillygreek, you get the prize. Clearing the Deleted Items Folder resolved the problem. Who knew.....! Thank you very much and thank you to everyone who offered their advice and assistance. Much appreciated.
