Did you try uninstalling Office XP...and then reinstalling? Same question just for Outlook?
Did you try repairing Outlook?

Hi Louis
No to both your questions. I'm a 70 year old 'technopeasant' and the thought of either of the above steps scares the s--t out of me. Are they easy to do or should I take my computer to some place like Best Buy for attention?
Appreciate your response.

FWIW: I'm a 62-year-old user who has managed to grasp a few concepts
Just follow the road for XP and let's see if it helps.

There should be a choice for "Detect and repair"
Click on that and follow the prompts to let it repair your Outlook.
Let us know what happens!
**If you need a more detailed explanation, please ask for it. I have the Knack. **

It went through the process of configuring Office XP Pro and finished by saying the Office XP Pro Setup was completed successfully. Next step?

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. Cannot download messages from my ISP, add or change appointments in Calendar or do anything in Contacts. Everything is frozen up! Anyone have any other suggestions?

If that does not solve it,, you may have to create a new .pst file.

Hillbillygreek, you get the prize. Clearing the Deleted Items Folder resolved the problem. Who knew.....! Thank you very much and thank you to everyone who offered their advice and assistance. Much appreciated.
