BleepingComputer.com: Blocking a employee workstation from internet access

Hello again,

Another problem has occurred. We thought we had many of our computers blocked from the internet. We have found out differently . Is there a way to block internet access and or limit the access to a list of acceptable site needed for work, ie. Vendor sites. Additionally, do you have a good internet usage monitoring software you recommend.

Can I offer the dumb answer - physically disconnect the computer from the source; unplug and remove the phone/ethernet cable. If need be, disable the jack in the wall.

This will surely disable internet from the computer.

I think something similar to what you want might be found using the Content Advisor in IE 6:

Also, you could configure your trusted/restricted zones to allow certain websites:

These might help if this is the browser your computers use.
