I'm not scared of change I've had WinXP 2002 for 4 years. Installed it once, didn't really like it. Tried to install it last year and it won't install again and no one on here can help me. I also have Win2k which I didn't like that much and that won't install again. I have a Win98 to WinME upgrade, I didn't find any advantage in that either. Last year I bought a stand alone WinME and thats when the ME problems started.

But if you are happy with WinME thats all that matters.

No it never froze. It took and couple of goes to install. It appeared to install the first time but as soon as it got to the desktop it came up with errors something was missing do a restart. The error was still there so I did a quick format and another install and it appeared to go ok the second time.

I write a lot of programmes with Visual Basic and I use an icon editor that comes with VB. Now ME show icons with the image viewer which is neither use nor ornament for me. With Win98 you just double-click the icon and it asks what do you want to use to open it. I select Imagedit.exe and the job is done. All icons show up in explorer with the little pictures.

With ME I didn't want to right-click and select Open with each time I want to edit one. I removed the ico from file association. So the next time I double-click an icon it asks what I want to use to open and I select Imagedit.exe but this time the icons don't show as the icon picture they all have the Imagedit.exe icon. So I wasn't impressed so Win98SE when back and everything works perfectly as it should do.

I didn't have this problem when I installed the Win98 to WinME upgrade because everything was already setup perfectly with Win98.
