Hi !!

Not quite sure if this is the right place for this question...

Can iexplore.exe become hijacked by a trojan of other malware??

I'm asking this because my firewall Comodo Pro does not recognise iexplore.exe as a legitimate application. Bit odd... But as iexplore.exe is trying to modify settings of other applications, I'm a bit worried that this may be signs of trojan activity.

Greetz and thanks upfront ;)

Do a search on your hard drive for files named iexplore.exe and report back what you find.

You might try uploading the files at Jotti for analysis.

Can you give us the exactly messages that Comodo is reporting.

I'll try....

But as Comodo is on a learning curve, ie to set new rulez, these were 'questions' rather than warnings.

I 'accepted' for this once, next time it asks, I'll write down the exact query.

(It was something like "iexplore.exe is trying to do this or that but can't be verified as a legitimate program. If you trust iexplore.exe the it is ok etc.")

I just don't understand why such a common tool as IE can't be verified.

Comodo should recognise iexplore.exe as legitimate, however it depends on how it was accessed. I would suggest you download the manual for Comodo and start by reading the "Understanding Alerts" section.

Thank you for the advice, and sorry for the long delay in replying. I have had many other non-computer related issues. All seems to be working fine now, but having and reading the Comodo manual is not a bad thing.

Thanks again!!!
