Hello Mandeep Sandhu and welcome to the forums.
You appear to be pretty new to linux/unix. Well since your starting dont mind unix for now and just worry about the basics. Now since your just starting i suggest you use a distrobution of linux called "linuxMint" Since it has most formats preinstalled so it's easy to use and pretty from the get go. Just google up the name and go to the first site. I suggest you try to you the liveCD before anything as a full install can destroy your windows partition if your not carefull.
