I am helping a friend recover from a HD crash! I got him a new HD and Installed XP(Dell Recovery disk). I ran the Windows Updater and got his PC up and running. I installed his old Apps and they work. The only Problem I am having is With his Canon Optura 400 Mini-DV Cam as a Webcam. He is using webcam32 software to get the image from the camera and send it to his webcam Page. I have tested the webcam32 software and it works with my webcam on his PC. And I have his Optura 400 Connected thru Firewire on his PC and I can download files from it with the software canon gives with the camera.
But when I try to use the Optura 400 with the webcam32 software all I get is a large black preview screen and nothing on the webpage.
He had someone else set this up for him 3 years ago. And has no idea how to reach this person. All he remembers is that it did the same thing and the person Had him go to some website to download somthing and that fixed it! I am not sure if it was Drivers For the Firewire card( Device manager says they are the right drivers and up to date) The camera needs no drivers. So I am at a loss as to what he downloaded to fix the problem. the only other thing he remembers is that it has somthing to do with resizing the image from the camera so that webcam32 can use it! I Have been working on this problem for 2 weeks now and have gotten noware. Please help!
