I have a problem with my HP PhotosmartC5180 all in one printer.
3 ink cartridges were depleted of ink.
They were replaced and the ink levels still show 0%
We brought a new set of cartridges and the ink level still show 0%

The printer will only print in gray scale, but all colors print when we ran a test print and cartridge alignment.

I contacted HP support and they walked me through a series of trouble shooting steps.
The last step was to reset the printer. The Menu’s they told me to go to were not there.
They couldn’t explain why the menus were missing and said the printer was damaged.

Does anyone know how to reset the printer?

One other possible issue could be a virus?
A week before the problem surfaced a download window opened and closed when nothing was being downloaded. So, we’re thinking a virus could be causing the problem?
The system was scanned and no virus was found, but it doesn’t mean there isn’t one present.

Any suggestions?

Hi fototaker. Welcome to BC.
Did HP have you do a master reset?
(Unplug printer> press help and ok buttons simultaneously> plug back in.)
