I can't figure out this annoying problem! When I highlight words in Microsoft Word, for some reason I can't hit backspace to delete it anymore. Instead, I actually have to use the delete button.

Hello cmarti6,
Can you use the Backspace button in any other application such as wordpad notepad etc?

I can use the backspace in Notepad.
Another thing I noticed is that I can't highlight things and type over them in Word like I used to be able to.
Thanks so much!

No problem, glad to help.
The problem is only apparent in Microsoft Word?
The event viewer may give some more information.
1. Click Start select run
2. Type eventvwr.exe
3. Press enter
4. Search through the groups for errors and warnings.
5. Double click on each error and or warning.
6. Locate the copy to clipboard button,
(under the two arrows)
7. Let us know what you find. (paste the results)

Hi cmarti6.
Both those things will happen if you do not have the "Typing Replaces Selection" option enabled.
In Word,go to Tools>Options>Edit tab. Make sure there is a tick in the above option. If there isn't, place one there, click OK, close and reopen Word.
If that's not the problem or doesn't do it, Go back to Tools>Options>General Tab.
Deselect both Word Perfect Options., click OK, close and reopen Word.
