I accidentally bought a SATA HDD, then i realized my motherboard only has an
IDE connection...

Is there any way i can use it on my motherboard? its a really nice hard drive, 500gb, 7200 rpm, 3gb/s

thanks

You could use an adapter like this one.

Alright, thanks

I read some of the specifications and it says up to 1.5gb/s...could I still use it?

Sure...that 1.5 is merely the max throughput the drive could ever achieve.

FWIW: SATA drives are faster than IDE drives but today's IDE drives are also pretty fast (in actual use).

You will also need a SATA PSU connection for that drive or one of the adapters available for such.

I prefer controller cards to these drive adapters, but that's a personal bias. Both seem to do the job.
