Vista's strengths:
- more secure
- better troubleshooting tools
- more stable

Vista's weakeness':
- driver issues
- compatibility issues with older hardware software

If it's not needed for older apps/software - Vista is the way to go
If it is needed for older apps/software - stay with XP
