Hi,
I found out that someone was in the services menu of my computer and has touched things. When I tried to run a backup and restore points it told me disk containing backup is not available.When I went into the control panel it says :cannot accept control messages at this time. In MSCONFIG it says the same thing. Even trying to open winpatrol it says service was blocked by user. All this with the heading of C:\windows32\. What did they touch? I fixed the copy and paste problem from yesterday by starting one of the services stopped. Thanks for your help once again

Oh I am running vista home premium 64 bit

Thanks! I reset everything but something weird happened on restart...the screen went black, it said something, went black again. I thought something happened but apparently it had turned off the monitor and when I turned it back on it came to a screen that said : shut down, switch user, and 3 other things. I hit cancel and all was well. It seems to be working now but I'm leary to restart it again.
Any idea as to what that was and if you think it's safe to restart?

If someone has been toying with your computer to make it "fast", I thing when I start up I would first enter the BIOS and select Restore Default Settings, to play it safe

hi,,, try this,,,,,
1. Power the computer off or do a restart.
2. Turn the computer on.
3. As the first text starts to appear on the screen, press the F2 key every two seconds until the message "Entering Setup "appears on the screen.
4. This will take you to the BIOS setup.
5. At the main System Setup screen press the F9 key.
6. Press the Y key once to choose YES.
7. Press the ENTER key to confirm that you would like to load the defaults.
8. Press the F10 key.
9. Press the Y key once to choose YES.
10. Press the ENTER key once.
11. Your Computer will now reboot and your BIOS defaults have now been loaded.
