Just Installed Xp Sp3 Over Vista And Bsod On Bootup

ok so as topic title says i installed xp over vista, formatted the hd during it also and it installed fine but when it went to boot up, 2 seconds on the xp loading screen it bsod and does that over and over?

What does the BSOD say like the STOP error Code and possible file.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

Can you boot into safe mode?

Hit F8 just before Windows loads.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

nope cant boot in safe mode, i tried this http://www.tipandtrick.net/2008/windows-xp...gdi32dll-error/ on a whim. but it says "parameter not valid" when i try to type in REN C:\Windows\System32\GDI32.dll C:\Windows\System32\GDI32.dll.orig

Copy c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386\gdi32.dll c:\windows\system32\gdi32.dll tried this. got access is denied? any help? btw i dont think there is an admin pw as i formatted the whole hd

I have seen an assortment of nasty bootloaders on vista computers, the one I had wiped and put xp on, I had to delete all partitions on the hard drive and start over

finally managed to copy e:\i386\gdi32.dll c:\windows\system32\gdi32.dll but restarted and no change

what do you mean delete all partitions? apparantly the problem with this all is sp3 :S ffs its 1:30am and i have a load of dling to do :| anyone could come up with a great way to fix this all id be much appreciated

You took a computer with Vista and Vista drivers on it and put XP on it with Vista drivers. Some are compatible, many are not
