I swapped Ram out in my Compaq SR5410F I was using two Hynix 1gb PC-6400 hymp112u64cp8-s6 sticks. I picked up 2 996527 Mushkin PC-6400 1gb sticks w/ the fancy heat spreaders.
When I started the computer it wouldn't post, just the old dreaded black screen. I removed one of the ram sticks and it booted up. I installed the stick in the other ram slot and nothing. It would work with either stick in one slot, but neither stick would work in the other slot. Tried the Hynix ram and it would do the same.
I searched the board for the clr-CMOS jumper after looking for a 1/2hr I finally located it. I gave it a jump, installed the Hynix ram and it's been working fine since.
Think it would be a good idea to try the Mushkin ram again or just stick with what's working?

Regards

Jim
