Well they are albums. A music album is a collection of music just like a photo album is a collection of photos. A CD is a medium--what happens when CD's become obsolete? Are we going to say, like, I got Roger Waters' new iPod or something?

LOL...good point papa. Still "Albums" in the historical sense bring back a sense of nostalgia. Do you remember those Kiss albums that you would rush home to open to see what goodie they put inside it? I used to love the sleeve art and the stickers they would put in

specool.gif Ok now this is a fun topic. I am listening to a lot of modern stuff. I love Stain'd. Aaron Lewis is such a singer. Just love everything they do. Fuel, No Doubt, Linkin Park..I really like the new one. Breaking the Habit. The video has some super Japanese Anime.

But I always go back to "The Boss" guitar.gif My all time favorite. I've always love his words. His "turn of phrase"?? I think he is a lovely songwriter. The E Street Band rocks too. LoL

I love RUSH. I have 2112 and I love listening to it. I like Lessons on the "flip" side also.

tongue.gif I can't leave out U2. I am such a Bono fan. I don't care who knows either. whistling.gif LoL

Dave Matthews Band. thumbup.gif wacko.gif I'm just loopy over him.

Grinler mentioned Steve Ray. cool.gif I love If Your House is A Rockin' !! I really like the Bluesy stuff. How 'bout that Blues Traveler. They are really good.

lmfao.gif I like it all. It's all good.

Yeah, Grinler, you are missin' a couple of Rush albums...but now, so am I huh.gif

I'm goin' have to take a day off from the lately typical computer work/play and get my music back on to HDD. When I first began using it, I set about the chore of audio inputting my old scratchy albums, side A and side B each as 1 track, and bought the scanner to input as .jpeg the art and lyrics. Did about 100 of them, then discovered the cassettes worked better, for the most part. Didn't take long before the county library system was yielding up CD replacements for many of those initial mp3's, and of course lottsa new music.

I've learned a bunch o' tricks in this line of thought, but listening to the Yamaha CD Changer and Sony amplifier next to my computer isn't quite the same as having iTunes and other players/burners at my immediate disposal on disk drive. whistling.gif

I'll post again when I can access my excel list of 14,000 song titles...and at least add the missing story albums by Rush (BTW, Rush in Rio from last year is good)

Those I call LP's to distinguish the medium. OK, so I'm obsessed with terminology. rolleyes.gif

Nostalgia. Ah, God, yes, I miss the old records--the heft and feel of them, liner notes and even the smell. But the cover art the most. Especially the foldouts. You could stand those on a flat surface and add instant atmoshphere--now playing--no static picture hanging on a wall.

The original edition of Wish You Were Here probably had the most goodies. About the most creative cover design ever.

Hey, brunt, you should've seen ELP on the Brain Salad Surgery tour. They put on a show anyway but that was the only time that I know of that it was done in quadraphonic sound. The digital sequencer climax at the end of Karn Evil 9 just blew me away. Next time I saw them--Works tour I think--they'd quit doing concerts in quad and it just wasn't the same.

And Pandy, I think we feel pretty much the same about Springsteen. It's hard for me to say which show I like the best--ELP or Bruce. Main thing I like about Springsteen is he'd give you your money's worth when you went to see him. It was hard to get most bands to play for more than an hour or so--some only 45 minutes. You better get ready for two or three hours with Bruce.

Well, I've waxed nostalgic long enough.

Did anyone like Zappa?

I was a little to young to see them when they originally toured papkid lol. I seen them when Bonham was the lead band. The show was awesome to say the least. But yes The climax to Karn Evil In Concert blew me away but I was young and dumb and did some thing to make the experience a little better. wacko.gif .. As for Zappa Zappa loved him as well. Its hard to say who I liked best you had Jethro Tull's unique sound then you had Warren Zevon rip_1.gif The doors ( an American prayer) Neil Young. An of course Floyd which was always headphone music because of the effect's they put in there!!! Like I said I grew up in the eighties but Loved the classics better!

Chunga's Revenge and Zoot Alures! Set the contols for the heart of the sun... I drove a '53 Cadillac limo to see Pink Floyd play the Salem Armory a month before they released Dark Side of the Moon...everyone was amazed by the unreleased "money" encore.

Ya I believe I've got about 10 years on brunt--maybe Grinler too--looks like you've got a few on me there phawgg.

Best spontaneous jam I saw--After a Blue Oyster Cult set Todd Rundgren happened to be in town at the same time and stopped by and Rick Derringer (opener) joined in too. Five guitarists (3 from BOC) did a number on Roadhouse Blues. I was suprised--Rundgren turned out to be the best of the bunch and Derringer embarassed himself.

Dyna Mo Hum

Nah, brunt, I guess I should've said I wish you could've seen the BSS tour. Figured it was a bit early for ya. Oh, and I started to edit my post to read like this.

Thanks for the link to the Zappa site.

Phawgg, or anybody--ever heard of Beaker Street?

My collection of vinyl - yes, VINYL! - runs from Abba to ZZTop, with various oldies (Paul Revere & The Raiders, Simon & Garfunkel, etc.), jazz (Chuck Mangione), classical (I'm partial to Bach's Brandenburgs), folk (The Kingston Trio) and weirdness (Zappa's Apostrophe) in between.

Personal favorites are Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Boston, The Glenn Miller Band, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and almost anything in Scottish bagpipes (this being especially good for 'neighbor control', like when their teens start crankig up crud like Eminem!).
