Recently a friend of mine here in the co-op had his CPU go bad on him. I don't know what happened but his mom gave him a used IBM CPU that was being used at her workplace. I'm helping him with security. It comes with some software pre-installed. Some of it is OK and some of it isn't and I know what to do for the most part. The only thing I'm concerned about is the CPU has Network Associates McAfee VirusScan Enterprise pre-installed. Obviously this is designed for a business computer as opposed to a home PC. And of course McAfee is a paid program so I want to replace it with Avira AntiVir. My experience with McAfee products is that uninstalling it using Add/Remove Programs probably isn't adequate and McAfee probably has their own removal tool. So I want to confirm that and if someone could post a link to the appropriate removal tool, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
