Classification Of Database Items

Hi there; first time poster here and it's nice to know you're here for help.

I'd just like to know whether the startup items in your database consist of only startup "processes" or are a percentage of the items considered startup "services"? I'm asking in regards to a PC checkup I had done at a local retailer; it indicates my startup "processes" are adequate but recommends getting rid of some startup "services" (none specified in particular).

Any thoughts are appreciated.

What might they be? Do you have a list you can Copy/Paste here?
Most Services can be turned off in Administrative Tools. Processes, we usually recommend a tool like Autoruns:

to disable them

Let me clarify that just a bit, just to prevent any confusion. Most services can indeed be turned off in Administative Tools, but that does not mean most services should be turned off, since most services are essential for your computer to run. Should you need to disable services, that is one way to do it. Windows ships with some services on by default hat are not always necessary for a particular consumer, so it is not really an earth shattering recommendation that some services could be disabled. For instance XP ships with support for uninterruptable power supply support enabled by default. If you do not have a ups, then there is no need to have that service enabled.

Thanks guys. Haven't had a chance to do any further fenagling but I'll keep the thoughts in mind.
