I have a network in my house where all the computers are connected together through my DSL Modem which also has wireless on it. I was wondering how to get a server going for my house so I could manage everyone. Any ideas on the easiest way of doing it?

Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

What will a server accomplish...that your present setup doesn't...or that using a router would not accomplish?

How many computers?

This looks like what you want, http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/n...tt_02may20.mspx

Not that I know much about networking or computers...but I suspect that a router with multiple ports might serve your needs/desires as well as a server-based home network.

Good luck smile.gif!

Why do you feel you need a server?
Please explain what you mean by "manage everyone"
Do you want a place to store files and share with all PC's?
Are you thinking you need a proxy server to filter adult sites?
There's a ton more questions I can ask, but it would be easier
if you tell us your end goal.
