Cd-drive

I came across with a cd-drive that i was told about having also cd-writing capability.But I was not sure about this.How will I know if that drive has cd writing capability.It has no writting on it or label something like CD-RW?Thanks.

The easy answer would be to try it...if no writing software recognizes it as such...that should be the answer.

It only takes a minute to attach it and/or unattach same from the system.

Hi yethPC

You can check what your drive is in Device Manager.
Assuming you are running XP, select Start-Settings-Control Panel and select System.
In the System Properties window select the Hardware Tab then click on Device Manager.
If you need to, expand the tree next to your computer name and the tree named CD/DVD-ROM Drives.
This will show you the make and model of your CD Drive.

garmanma, there was nothing stamped on it just a word "compact disc".
HamluisI even searched for writing software but there was none.I tried windows cd-writing feature and a message came out "pls insert a disk...bla bla..bla.."

There is plenty of downloadable burn software around...I have never used Windows burn function.

Any version of Nero (among others) would do.
