BleepingComputer.com: Getting Rid Of User Accounts

Hello. I purchased a demo laptop from Office Max running Vista. I would like it to boot up like my desktop computer, which is running XP.
The XP computer goes right to the desktop screen, while the Vista asks which user to boot up. I don't need different user accounts and want Vista to go right to the desktop. Is this possible to do. I would like to get rid of all the present users and just have a generic startup. Thank you.

hi,,, here is a link on how to delete user accounts on vista,,,, when you have deleted all the accounts you dont want and your left with the one you want then, if you want it to open on boot up then remove the password in user accounts in control panel. I would leave it password protected though, just incase it gets nicked,,,

You can automatically log into any account that you choose (and keep your password) by following this method:

Go to Start and type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Left click once on the account that you want to automatically login with
Then remove the checkmark from the box that says "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
Then click on Apply - it'll prompt you for your user password.
Enter the password, then click on OK to exit that dialog, then click on OK to exit the entire dialog.
Reboot to ensure that it's worked.
