I have used almost every spyware program I can think of, restarted and have done scans galore. Spybot, Ad-Aware, Spyware Dr. (free version), Prevx(free), Norton 360 (registered). I usually just use spybot and that gets rid of the problem but this spyware/virus?? is nasty.

I finally am using HJT and posting to this site. I hopefully followed the instructions on posts and also the procedures on scanning, etc. I updated Windows but it did not need any real updates (I selected two optional software updates). On this machine, Norton 360 still has about 150 days to go and has it's firewall active. I've used PrevX's free scan...did not find anything. Only Spybot finds:

FunWebProducts
[SBI $B71E4FFD] Program directory
C:\Program Files\FunWebProducts\

MyWay.MyWebSearch
[SBI $51E6ABA2] Program directoy
C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\

Right Media
Tracking cookie [Internet Explorer: ******]
Internt Explorer [******]: Cookie:*** ***@ad.yieldmanager.com/[]

****** - stands for a personal first & last name (omitted above)

I've used AFT-Cleaner to clean out all temp files, etc. Scanned with spybot and Ad-Aware. Ad-Aware found a bunch of cookies that I deleted. I am here including the HJT log as an attachment in the hopes of nipping this virus/spyware/trojan...whatever it is.

Thank you in advance!!! :)

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. We aim to provide the valuable service known to come from BC to every member we can, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a description of your problem, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below a staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to create an OTViewIt Report
  • Please download OTViewIt by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the OTViewIT icon on your desktop.
  • Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  • Click on the Run Scan button.
  • Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:
    • OTViewIt.txt <-- Will be opened
    • Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized

If you have not downloaded HiJackThis yet:
Posted ImageClick here to download HJTInstall.exe
  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
In your reply:
  • Fresh HJT log
  • OTViewIt results

Thanks

Harry
