I have 2 computers, untill some time i had my moms computer connected to the gateway(2wire) through ethernet connection. then my main computer upstairs through wireless. then about 2days ago my wireless adapter became shot. sometimes it would work then would just got off. sometimes i found i had to wiggle the adapter around the thing just to get it working again.

so anyway i got sick of it. and got my dad to get one of those female end connecter cords, where you connect the ethernet cords into. we had i going from the gateway downstairs to my comp upstairs. we did a test first to see if everything was ok. everything turned out ok but when i connected it to my computer my connected got stuck on limited connectivity.

i when on the network thing on vista where u can see all the devices connected to your network. it saw other computer and the switch part of the gateway. but it can't see the internet.

on my moms computer that was already connected to the internet , that can connect fine to the internet.but mine don't seem to be connecting at all

my main computer is a vista. and my moms is a XP

*edit* got it. just did that diagnotics thing it gave me a few options. it said something about going into the manage network connections. and turning both ipv4 and ipv6 to automatic. after i did that it seemed to find the internet right away
