I don't have support from the company because I asked for my money back after they told me the program would do certain things I asked about before buying. Also a portion of the program is just a copy of some of the utilities that come with Windows. I told them I could do the same with free programs that were out there. Anyway, I made the backup with their program, then got my money back, but they never asked for me to return the cd. I still had it when the hard drive crashed, so I reinstalled it over my fears of it containing some kind of malware, though my scans before the crash didn't come up with anything.
Anyway, I did change the boot sequence to start from the cd. What I'm unclear about is what backup files contain my data files and how to retrieve them without reinstalling the old system files that were also backed up. I don't want to write over my new system. The backup files have names that mean nothing to me and I can't read them. I assume that's standard fare for backups. The hard drive on my new computer was already partitioned. Can I restore the backups to the partition not containing Windows on it and then move the data files and program files one by one to the other partition, then delete the old system files? |

Interesting. I went back several pages before I found any other post that had no new replies. Is this forum clique-ish? I won't waste my time coming back to this one.
