agh can any1 help me..i have a pc with windows xp and an apple mac with osx and i want to connect them both up to my broadband internet (not at the same time)...i asked my isp for help and they told me to ask pc world because i need to set up a LAN..i dont particually want to ask pc world becuase last time they 'helped' me they told me to get this video card and cables and stuff that i didnt need....can anyone here help me?

um...yeah..basically i just need to know what i need to set up a LAN and if its necessary when the computers are not going to be online at the same time...sorry if i didnt make that clear..smile.gif

The simplest route, although not cheap, so that the MAC and PC can access the internet independently would be to have a router and 2 straight through (patch) CAT5 cables, or you could go the wireless route

Putasolutions answer is what I did a while ago. If you don't want to spend the money you can try a lan. First pick the computer you use the most, and run the network wizard. Then run it on the other one. A little inconvenient, but cheaper. One note. I have never set up a lan with 2 different os's. Anyone out there with info?
