Hi I Am New Here Disconnection in internet connection on clien machine

I hv. created networking through cable in my office. it is pc to pc connection.

But i am having proble with my client machine when i give IP to client machine it looses the enternet connection.
I hv tried it using gateway. But it couldn't work.

Pl help me to resolve the issue.

Is it a cable modem to the internet or is it pc to pc. Your post is a little confusing.
If you are giving your PC a static connection and it connects directly to your cable modem you will lose connectivity. You need to set it for DHCP.
