Hello,
When I run a computer scan of my HDD it shows up files and programs (including a redundant ,supposedly deleted account)that have been deleted long ago. Is there anyway to remove all trace of these deleted files from the computer HDD ,without having to reformat?
Thanks
Nightman

Have a look at this list of freeware, there should be something in there that can do the job:

Personally, I've used CCleaner for files and Revo uninstaller for programs. If you use Ccleaner, just be careful with it. I would also avoid "registry cleaners".

What scan did you use? Was it a file recovery scan?

Hi nigglenush85,
I was actually doing a virus scan with Kaspersky and I noticed in the list of files , all the files from a redundant account, which I thought had been deleted.

When you delete a user account if memory serves it asks you if you want to keep the users files. I would imagine this is why they are still there. Do the virus scanners give a location of the files? (maybe in the logs/reports)

The folders in the Documents and Settings folder will normally be retained, even when you delete an account (although option to delete personal/private info may affect this).
