http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic163704.html just ran dxdiag which I forgot about and checked bios and they are allowing approx. 128MB of ram for my display which DOES not need it and never did. WHY now it is taking that much memory "approx" when it never did before I can only say I installed newer version of windows, but that is the only thing that changed. I never had 128MB taken out for video display. How do I take that back or use minimum without going into reg keys???!!! thanks. |

If, as you state...the BIOS allocation is that amount, then the BIOS is the place to correct such allocation.
OTOH...if that is the amount of RAM which comes with a dedicated card...perhaps you need check such things out before creating issues in your mind. Registry keys have nothing to do with video RAM, AFAIK. Louis |

reg keys are not... correct. I do not like going there was the point out of nowhere. You are right, created in my mind because I dislike highly messing with reg keys and just posted that. You are wrong though anyhow, you can do things in registry with regards to ram IMO... or as you say IN MY MIND. I guess you cannot get anything out of registry in regards to ram huh... hmmmm... errrrrrr, wrong!

Issue resolved and I didnt even have to use REG!!! I just created my own picture of how a computer should work, and REALITY hit me and I got the ram back... anyhow short of story is the RAM is good! 512MB on the guinea pig computer is back where it should be and running faster than a dolphin can swim in the water... until I create an issue in my mind again. Thread can be closed as problem is solved. Thanks.
