Im trying to assist one of my friends in "fixing" his computer. I thought it may be a problem with software or some virus issue but it turns out it isnt. I happened to be reading the winxp tweaking guide that is posted on these boards and found a program named "SpeedFan". I ran it and it says that his core is at 75 degrees CELSIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its burning up over here. Well Im not sure really how to use the program or what speed I should have it running at or even what temperature it should be at. Any help will be appreciated and Im sorry if this is the wrong area for the post and will be sure to move it if there is a problem.

Here is the SpeedFan log

Hello folsomgod,

If you can, have a look at the heatsink, It may not be seated correctly or may need cleaning.

Get a can of compressed air and stick the nozzle in the laptop vents and try blowing them out

Ok i will attempt the can o' air technique hopefully that will help. But in the meantime do you guys think it would be a good idea to change the fan speeds during system idle? Im not quite sure how to do it but I think that it might help lower the temp a little bit.

You can try using speedfan to increase the speed, but in theory once the CPU is cleaned out you shouldn't need the increased speeds.
