This one may win the "most insane Vista issue " yet award. I have an HP laptop running Vista Home Premium and, other than being a bit slow to start, performs everything else just fine. I am currently taking on on-line class (I spend a lot of time on the road and need portable capability-hence the laptop), and it requires a CD that I received from Ivy Software. After placing the CD in the drive, I immediately receive an "Authorware Runtime has stopped working." Vista of course checks for a solution and finds none. Now here's the cool part: I place said CD in my work computer (Windows XP SP2) and it works fine. Must be the laptop or Vista you say, yep, me too.
Here's what I tried (after talking to Ivy tech. spt for an hour who had never heard of this before): disable all AV/Spyware/Malware/Defender etc. programs-no change
Disable UAC-no change
Disable DEP-no change
Go into properties of the Start program and change Compatibility tab to other OS (5 others to be exact)-no change
Scan for virsues with 4 different scanners-no problems but, no change
Scan for SW/MW-none, no change
Run HijackThis-no issues, no BHOs of note, no other conflicts
Run other CDs-fine
Download the newest versions of Macromedia (Authorware is written in Flash)-no change
Reboot-no change
Copy all the files to a new folder and then try to run-no change
So, with the exception of installing XP, either on a separate partition or in virtual mode, I am at my wit's end. Any help would be great.
